January 2009 Website Launch! After months of planning, we have finally launched our first website! We want to give a big "thanks" to MediaX Creative, a Lewistown company which put all of our ideas into a well-organized, easy to use site. Please take some time to look around at all that it has to offer.

January is National Glaucoma Month. Glaucoma is a condition that affects the optic nerve and can cause severe vision loss. In fact, glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness in the United States. Glaucoma can affect people of any age, although the risk increases as we get older. There are rarely any symptoms, which is what makes this disease so dangerous. Only an eye care provider can thoroughly check for the signs of glaucoma, and this is one of the reasons to have an eye exam at least every two years. Read more about glaucoma here.

February 2009 Back to Haiti. In February, Dr. Hutton will travel to Haiti to spend a week doing mission work in a rural eye clinic. This will be his 23rd trip to this clinic, and he will be joined by students from the Illinois College of Optometry. Be on the lookout for pictures of his trip once he returns.
